Umesh Skanthan obtained his Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of London and completed the Certificate in Legal Practice issued by the Malaysian Legal Profession Qualifying Board before being admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.
Before establishing Skanthan Kumar Chambers, Umesh Skanthan practised with one of Malaysia’s leading insurance litigation firms where he acted for major insurers across a wide spectrum of insurance-related disputes. His experience managing complex litigation and advisory work for insurers has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of the insurance industry and its operational dynamics.
Drawing on that foundation, Umesh Skanthan now leads a plaintiff-focused practice representing motor accident victims. His background in insurance defence gives him a unique perspective in advancing claims effectively and strategically on behalf of the accident victim.
Recognised for his strategic and pragmatic style, he is committed to achieving fair outcomes and ensuring that his clients are guided with clarity and confidence throughout the legal process.
Building on this experience with the assistance of Ravindra Kumar, Umesh Skanthan has also broadened his practice to include employment and general dispute resolution matters.
